Farewell to LCDR Edmund Donovan

On April 24, 2022, LCDR Edmund Donovan officially retired from the United Naval Sea Cadets Corps.

Back in 2004, LCDR Donovan and LCDR Burkett founded the George Washington Division. Shortly after, the unit was moved to the Salesian Catholic High School were it grew in numbers and LCDR Donovan became the Commanding Officer. During his tenure, he graduated many sea cadets, of which three entered the US naval academy and one was accepted to King’s Point Merchant Marine Academy.

LCDR Donovan is a well respected Veteran. He served 25 years in the reserves Air Force and NY Army Guard. He retired with a military rank of Colonel and transition as a Physics teacher at the Salesian High School.

He is an active member of NYPD Aux Police Commander of 45 Pct Rank of Inspector, Active member of Elks and Knights Columbus; and a volunteer at the USCoast Guard Auxiliary. Past Division Commander and Coxswain Active also with Civil Air Patrol rank of LTC and Air Observer.
